How does Renuvion® skin tightening work?
Renuvion® is the first minimally invasive skin tightening medical treatment that harnesses the power of two energy-based technologies:
- Radiofrequency energy (RF)
- Cold helium plasma
Radiofrequency energy has been leveraged in the cosmetic medical treatment industry for a lengthy period and has a proven track record for safety and effectiveness. RF heats the tissues under the surface of the skin to trigger to prompt an expedient contraction and promote collagen production. This process helps improve skin thicken, firm and smooth over time for an improvement in:
- Tone
- Texture
- Firmness
Cold helium plasma is produced when an electrical charge is applied to helium gas. The produced plasma cools your skin as the RF is used, keeping you feeling comfortable and protecting adjacent tissue.
Combining the two forms of energy, one to heat the skin and the other to cool the skin, allows the Renuvion® technology to heat the tissue to a higher temperature than any other RF device. I would like to know what happens during a Renuvion® treatment.
If you and Dr. Diaco decide that Renuvion® is a good choice for you, the procedure is performed at an accredited cosmetic surgery center in Tampa. While the Renuvion® procedure is considered a minimally invasive procedure, the results we achieve require small incisions so the device can be inserted. Often, Renuvion® is combined with liposuction to tighten the skin.
Depending on the condition of the areas being treated, the Renuvion® treatment may be performed under:
- General anesthesia
- Local anesthesia with sedation
- Local-only anesthetic
Dr. Diaco will discuss which form of anesthesia he recommends when he prepares your treatment plan.
Once you have been anesthetized, Dr. Diaco will make one or more small incisions in the area being treated, through which the probe for the device will be inserted. This allows for targeted treatment. Once inserted, the Renuvion® probe will emit RF energy that deeply heats the underlying tissue while the cold helium plasma cools the tissues and helps transmit the RF energy.
When the procedure is complete, you will be able to return to your home with a bandage covering the incision sites. Depending on the area of treatment, a compression garment may also be recommended to minimize swelling and aid healing and results.
What results can I expect?
Renuvion® gives you immediate results that continue to improve for three months. After the procedure, you will see visibly tighter skin. Additionally. Collagen will be rebuilding over time to continue firming and rejuvenating the area Renuvion® was used on. There will be minimal swelling and due to the small incision, there will be no scarring.
